‘Twyg Africa Textile Talks 2025’

Jonker Venter, Lauren Moore, Pierre van der Vyver and Jackie May discuss responsible fibre management, ethical standards, and global excellence of mohair value chain in South Africa by ‘The Dollie House’ via twyg.co.za

It was an honor to create a special group of artworks to be used as the backdrop for the third annual edition of TWYG’s Africa Textile Talks. These works, tilted ‘Stratum : A Triptych’ are a slow and considered reflection on waste, on desire, disposal and dispossessed. What does it mean for our waste to become the very earth beneath our feet?
What does it mean to be laying not only only archaeology but geological impact in our wake? how can this reflection and contemplation be one of subtlety, of nuanced sensitivity to the realities rather than accusation and outrage.

As always this year’s textile talks were a font of inspiration, sensitivity and real life reckoning with the full scope of supply chain & responsible design
