H O L D I N G P A T T E R N S

During the first season of this year I’ve been practicing the art of the container :
Learning to define and protect a time and space in which I can honour the quiet, repetitive, language of making.

This is a practice of production which has begun to feel like listening, following and holding.

Listening to memory,
Following vulnerability,
Holding attention -
and materialising it into new form

This body of work has grown slowly:
Gathering, taking apart and bringing back together anew.

A slow pulling on a thread,
unravelling form to expose the memory that cloth holds,
and in doing so, revealing new ways to be, make and hold.

Through this excavation new forms have emerged,
A contemplation on boundaries,
A turning inside out,
An exposure, tenderly, of the unifying messiness of matter.

Picking up precious scraps
and repairing them into new fields of cohesion:
A new ground on which to stand,
A foundation from which to move forward.

Rather than a formal exhibition, I am opening the studio for an afternoon,
to share the work as it is, in the space where it’s been made.

An opportunity to close this particular container,
and in doing so, to open it up and let it spill out into the world
to celebrate in community and create new connection

Join Me
